Walking Horses Needed for Nashville/Metro Mounted Patrol Unit

Our S.O.P. states that we only use Tennessee Walking horses and some of our restrictions are that the horse be between 4 and 8 years of age when we obtain them and be between 15.2 – 17 hands tall. We don’t have a color restriction but we do know that the lighter color horses are harder to keep clean and are harder hit by flies and that could affect a decision. When we go to look at a horse that the owner is interested in donating to the police dept., if we feel the horse is worth further consideration we explain to the owner that we will take the horse for a 60 day trial period (there is a form that the owner is requested to sign along with a representative of the Mounted Unit for this 60 day trial) and that at the end of the 60 days that if we feel the horse does not have the characteristics that we are looking for, that we will return the horse to the owner.  If, on the other hand we feel that this horse has the potential to be a police horse we will request that the owner sign the donation papers and then this document will go before the Metro Council to be voted on whether to except or reject this donation. If I’ve been vague in any way please contact me at (615) 830-6645 or (615) 834-8545
