Lewisburg, TN – Whatever your interest or experience, TWHBEA has a committee that could benefit from your valuable input. TWHBEA encourages all members to get involved with their breed registry. Committee appointments for 2010 will be made at the January 25, 2010 Executive Committee meeting and TWHBEA urges all interested members to fill out and submit a committee interest form no later than January 15, 2010. The form is available on the TWHBEA web site (www.twhbea.com) or by calling 931-359-1574. Make your voice heard by serving on a TWHBEA committee! Below is a list of TWHBEA’s operating committees:

Administrative/Fiscal/Audit Committee
Mission:
To preserve and manage the administrative and financial welfare of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ and Exhibitors’ Association

Rob Cornelius, Chairperson

Breeders Committee
Mission:
To set standards for registry and breeding concerns and to facilitate the future integrity of breeders of Tennessee Walking Horses.

Jack Heffington, Chairperson

By Laws Committee
Mission:
To facilitate the changing needs of the Association through recognizing the current or future conflicts in the Bylaws and rules that govern TWHBEA.

Loyd Hall Black, Jr., Chairperson

Enforcement Committee
Mission:
To enforce the Bylaws and rules of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ and Exhibitors’ Association and to recommend appropriate discipline for violators.
Kasey Kesselring, Chairperson

Equine Welfare Committee
Mission:
The Equine Welfare Committee will be at the forefront of TWHBEA’s activities to develop and administer programs directed towards the protection of the welfare of Tennessee Walking Horses.

Horse Show Committee
Mission:
To develop, promote and improve the quality of Tennessee Walking Horse Shows.
Bruce Vaughn, Chairperson

Owners/Exhibitors Committee
Mission:
To communicate to the public, and defend if necessary the rights of owners and exhibitors of Tennessee Walking Horses.
Stephen Brown, Chairperson

Performance Show Horse Committee
Mission:
To promote the padded Tennessee Walking Horse and to increase interest in this segment of the breed.  Work in conjunction with the TWHBEA Horse Shows Committee to assist horse shows with developing performance classes.  Assist TWHBEA members by acting as a liaison to all HIOs concerning show horse rules.  To act as liaison to other breed organizations.

Pleasure Horse Committee
Mission:
To promote the flat shod Tennessee Walking Horse and to increase interest in this segment of the breed.  To work in conjunction with the TWHBEA Horse Shows Committee to assist horse shows with developing pleasure classes.  To act as liaison to other breed organizations.

Rick Wies, Chairperson

Marketing Committee
Mission:
To promote the Tennessee Walking Horse and communicate the missions of TWHBEA to its members and to the general public through the media, public service projects and/or special events and programs.
Marty Irby, Chairperson

Training Committee
Mission:
To coordinate, communicate, and harmonize the goals and efforts of owners, exhibitors, breeders and trainers through TWHBEA representation at trainer meetings and events and within training organizations.

Wayne Dean, Chairperson

Youth Committee
Mission:
To coordinate, supervise, and promote TWHBEA youth activities and programs.

The Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders' and Exhibitors' Association (TWHBEA), headquartered in Lewisburg, Tennessee, is the oldest and most prestigious organization devoted to the promotion of the breed. Founded in 1935, the breed registry was established to record the pedigrees of the Tennessee Walking Horse. Its goal is to maintain the purity of the breed, to promote greater awareness of the Tennessee Walking Horse and its qualities, to encourage expansion of the breed, and to help assure its general welfare.
