Charles William “Bill” Wright
I began riding on our neighbor’s work horse at the age of four. My grandfather gave me a pony when I was nine. On November 20, 1954 I purchased my first Tennessee Walking Horse, a weanling filly, from Russell Campbell in Nashville, Tennessee. I became a member of TWHBEA in January 1955. I attended the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration for the first time in 1956 and saw Go Boy’s Shadow and Winston Wiser win after a two horse workout with Mr. Sensation and Steve Hill. From 1960 to 1980, I judged all-breed shows in several states.
From 1981 through 2010, I have served as a TWHBEA director for 23 years, during which time I have served on the Breeders, Enforcement, Owners/Exhibitors, Marketing and By Laws committees. My wife and I own Riverview Farm, Inc. on which we raise primarily Tennessee Walking Horses for show and pleasure use.
I graduated from Burch High School in Delbarton, West Virginia, attended Bowling Green College of Commerce in Bowling Green, Kentucky for one year and graduated from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, with a BBA degree in accounting. I taught in the public high schools and a private business college prior to becoming a Certified Public Accountant. Since 1966, I have been in public accounting and currently am the senior partner in the firm of Trainer, Wright & Paterno.
I currently reside in Huntington, West Virginia with my wife, Wanda, and near our daughter and son-in-law, Kellie and Todd White, and our grandsons Charlie and James.
