Sharon Brandon – Secretary/Treasurer
A native of Lewisburg, Tennessee, Sharon Brandon spent her earliest school years in Normandy, Tennessee, where her mother taught school. She and her family returned home to Lewisburg in 1952 and she has been there ever since. She is a 1961 graduate of Marshall County High School and she attended Middle Tennessee State University. She began her career with the TWHBEA in 1962 and was first elected Secretary/Treasurer in 1966 following the resignation of Mrs. Marianne Hawkins.
She resigned as Secretary/Treasurer March 31, 2007 but continued to make herself available for consultation. She began compiling a history of the Association and its role in the horse industry. In December 2007 she agreed to accept the nomination, once again, for Secretary/Treasurer and was elected by the National Board.
Mrs. Brandon has been married to Joe Brandon for 45 years. They have two grown sons, Joey and Nathan (Amy), and four wonderful grandchildren, Ben, Abby, Anna Lynne, and Nicole (Jayce). Rounding out their family is a can, three granddogs, and two grandcats. She and her husband enjoy spending time with their grandchildren, yard work, Tennessee football, and trips to Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Mrs. Brandon has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church for 46 years, serving as an Elder for 25 years. Additionally, she is currently serving on the Session as Co-Treasurer and she is member of the Board of Trustees. She is also serving a three-year term on the Board of Directors for the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce.
