    Tennessee Walking Horses were once regulars at Madison Square Garden.

    Fact – By 1940, Tennessee Walking Horses were included in most all-breed horse shows, including the show held annually at Madison Square Garden.

  • Fact or Fiction?
    The Dixie Jubilee Horse Show was once referred to as the “graveyard of champions.”

    Fact – The Dixie Jubilee was referred to as the “graveyard of champions’ because a number of great Tennessee Walking Horses first met defeat there including Strolling Jim, City Girl, and Talk Of The Town.

  • Fact or Fiction?
    Heavy chains are strapped around the ankles of the performance Tennessee Walking Horse during showing.

    Fiction – Chains are limited to six ounces and are inspected for compliance. An average Tennessee Walking Horse weighs 1000 pounds. The ration of chain to horse is .03%. A watch weighing 2 ounces on a 130 pound woman is a ration of .096%

  • Fact or Fiction?
    Riders 11 years of age and under have never been required to canter in performance Tennessee Walking Horse competition.

    Fiction – The Juvenile 11 & Under class was initially a canter class.



  • Fact or Fiction?
    Midnight Sun and Merry Go Boy were started by the same trainer.

    Fact – Best known as the trainer of Merry Go Boy, Winston Wiser was also the trainer that started Midnight Sun under saddle.
