Don’t Let A Radio Detract From Your New Wardrobe
Tips On Attire by Marsha’s On The Square

We want to touch base on radios for a moment. The use of the radio is not common in other show breeds, but it seems to be popular in the Walking Horse world. A radio can easily distract from what started out as well fitting attire. Special consideration should be made for proper placement.
A radio hanging from the belt onto the hip gives you a lopsided bulge and the appearance of extra pounds. Hanging the radio from your belt between the vents of your coat can cause the back of the coat to wrinkle taking away the smooth long lines that we all desire. One suggestion for radio placement is to have an extra interior pocket constructed in your jacket just below your bust area to place your radio. We do this for our Walking Horse customers. Or, perhaps, a small radio clipped onto your vest under your jacket lapel may be less conspicuous. A wireless model most likely would be best of all.
Changing gears or should we say gaits, let's discuss shirts. Nothing ruins an ensemble more than a bad fitting shirt. Your shirt collar should be stiffly pressed and fitted to where only a fingers worth fits between your neck and the top button hole. Nothing looks any worse than a shirt collar made to fit by tightening the tie. All collars should be constructed with either a british tab, a snap tab or eyelets with a collar bar pin. Button down collars are exceptable but not desired.
