In today’s Tennessee Walking Horse industry, A Specialist is somewhat of a rarity.

What makes him different, you ask?

Well, just about everything . . .

First, let’s take nothing away from Pride of Midnight’s enormous influence on the modern Tennessee Walking Horse, or the impact made by The Pusher C.G. in the last 20 years. However, it’s important to understand that A Specialist is one of the few, successful show horses and breeding stallions of today with no Pride and no Pusher in his background.

Being sired by the late Dr. Elmer and out of a full-sister to multi world champion Crimson Parader, his bloodlines are rich with Ebony Masterpiece, Sun’s Delight D., Mack K’s Handshaker and Midnight On Parade K. His pedigree makes him a rare outcross by today’s standards and a much needed option for modern breeders.

From the standpoint of gait, he is also different. His way of going is reminiscent of the head-shaking, ground covering horses of yesteryear, and the foundation on which the breed was built. Year after year, his consistency and durability made him a champion in every sense of the word.

Conformationally, he is tall, rangy and well-muscled, and he will add substance, strength and hybrid vigor to today’s refinement. Based on Waterfall’s experience in the breeding business, his conception rate is considerably higher than the industry average. And, his potency as a breeding stallion is no doubt a result of his bloodlines.

Raised by noted Shelbyville farrier Jerry Lewis and started by veteran horseman Dude Crowder, A Specialist caught the eye of industry notables Arthur and Susan Gordon during his four-year-old campaign. He was placed under the capable training direction of Russ Thompson and went on to capture the Reserve Junior World Grand Championship. He was later paired with Susan Gordon in the Amateur Specialty ranks. This proved a magic formula as the duo captured an amazing four Amateur Specialty World Grand Championships and three Amateur Specialty Stallion World titles.

Now standing at Shelbyville, Tennessee’s Waterfall Farms, A Specialist is part of the farm’s $200,000.00 breeding incentive program, the most lucrative in the industry. A foal sired by A Specialist could ultimately win $25,000.00 as a weanling in 2007, $25,000.00 as a yearling in 2008 and up to $150,000.00 as a two-year-old in 2009. Incentive money is available for padded performance, park pleasure and lite-shod two-year-olds.

A Specialist is certainly a special stallion for many reasons. And wise breeders understand the important role he is destined to play in an industry saturated with in-breeding. Last year, his first full season at stud, he attracted a number of quality mares to his book and settled them at a very high rate.

Waterfall Farms is proud to make this stallion available to the industry and appreciates everyone who has booked mares to him and expressed interest in his breeding program.
