”Once you say your’re going to settle for second, that’s what happens to you in life.” - President John F. Kennedy
The above quote is applicable to just about any endeavor, including the business of breeding horses. To breed quality horses you must not settle for less, you must seek out the best – the best show record, the best bloodlines, and the best breeding record. There is one sire in our industry that meets all of these criteria. That sire is Waterfall Farms’ JFK.
Named for one of our country’s greatest leaders, JFK has been a leader in our industry for over a decade. Before becoming a leading sire, he was a leading show horse.
JFK was bred for show ring success; he has the blood of champions flowing through his veins. His sire, Prides Generator, is one of the legends of our breed. His dam, Count’s Silver Lining, is by the great contender Delight’s Counselor. His second dam, Count’s Smooth Sailing, is also the second dam of WGC I’m All Fired Up. JFK is a full brother to WGC My Jackie O and WC RFK. He is a half brother to WC Jackie O’s My Sister.
During the early 1990s, JFK absolutely dominated the show ring. In 1992, he walked away with the Two-Year-Old Stallion World Championship and the Two-Year-Old World Grand Championship with Billy Gray in the irons. The next year he repeated the feat in the three-year-old division, again with Billy up. Then, in 1994, Tim Gray directed him to the Four-Year-Old Stallion World Championship and Four-Year-Old World Grand Championship.
Good stock begets good stock. Considering his family tree and show career, it’s not difficult to see why JFK has been so successful in producing offspring that excel in the show ring. His pedigree is tailor made to cross well with Pusher mares. Indeed, this cross has proven to be one of the most successful in our industry.
The list of JFK sired world titleholders is staggering. His world grand champions include John FK’s Delight, JFK’s Monopoly, John FK’s Pusher, Capone, and Starstruck By JFK. Mr. Chili Pepper, Jack Ruby, FDR, Mistress, JFK All Over, JFK’s Diva, Mr. Fitzgerald, and He’s Wild Eyed & Wicked make up the list of JFK’s world champion get. His reserve world grand champion offspring are The Wizzard, Kat Man Dude, and Card Trick. JFK’s Ice Lady, Kennedy, and I’m PT 109 have each claimed reserve world championships. Add National Futurity Champion A White Rose and Reserve National Futurity Champion A JFK Debutante to the list and you have all the proof required to label JFK one of our industry’s most successful sires.
But the story doesn’t end there. Two of JFK’s successful sons have also developed into prominent breeding stallions. WGC John FK’s Delight and WC JFK All Over stand at stud beside their sire at Waterfall Farms and both have become quite popular with mare owners throughout the country. In addition, Waterfall Farms owners Bill and Sandra Johnson recently purchased two-year-old stallion I’m Big Bad John, another JFK son. In training with Jamie Bradshaw at Furguson Farms in Union Grove, Alabama, I’m Big Bad John shows tremendous promise. Finally, JFK’s Monopoly will attempt a world grand championship repeat as he and Bill Johnson strive for the 2005 amateur four-year-old title.
As stated above, JFK is owned by and stands at Bill and Sandra Johnson’s immaculate Waterfall Farms in Shelbyville, Tennessee. This facility is strictly state-of-the-art with perhaps the most knowledgeable and dedicated staff in the industry. JFK stands at a fee of $1,250 with a live foal guarantee. His fee includes one of the richest incentive programs in the history of our breed. His incentive program guarantees $100,000 to the breeder/owner of the JFK sired 2008 two-year-old open or amateur padded performance world grand champion*. Add this incentive to his outstanding bloodlines, stellar show record, and thriving get and you have the breeding opportunity of a lifetime – the opportunity to breed to the best and the opportunity to produce the best.
