To excel as a champion, you first must excel as an individual. You must prove your worth amongst your peers and within your field of competition. You must make others believe that you are worthy of high honors. Over the past four years, A Strong Dollar has done just that. He has found show ring success time and time again and he has developed a cadre of loyal supporters that genuinely believe in his ability, pedigree, and worthiness as both a great horse and a champion. As A Strong Dollar campaigns toward the ultimate honor in the Tennessee Walking Horse industry, he continues to impress with his abundance of natural talent, presence, and charisma. He is truly a worthy champion.

A Strong Dollar was bred and raised by Castle and Susan Redmon of Paris, Kentucky. He is by the leading sire Generator’s Silver Dollar and out of Mo Precious (Motown Magic x Threats Jake Shake). As a yearling, Dr. Bob and Curtice McCloy, owners of Generator’s Silver Dollar, purchased him. According to Susan Redmon, “Even as a weanling A Strong Dollar was special. We knew there was something special about him, the way he moved. There was just such a presence about him. It’s kind of a dream that every breeder has to breed a world champion. He is just such a special horse.”

When A Strong Dollar first hit the show ring in 2002 as a two-year-old under the direction of Joe Cotten in the open division and the McCloys’ daughter Allison Lafferty in the amateur division, his potential was undeniable. He made 12 show ring appearances that year, claiming eight blue ribbons and never placing out of the top three. Among his first place ties was the Two-Year-Old Stallions, Section B World Championship.

His three-year-old season was even more impressive. After a first place tie with Joe Cotten at the Trainers’ Show, the talented youngster was moved to Webb Stables where he was placed under the direction of Link Webb. In 1997, Link directed A Strong Dollar’s sire, Generator’s Silver Dollar, to the 15.2 & Under World Grand Championship and in 2000 he directed him to the Walking Stallions, Section B World Championship and the Reserve World Grand Championship. Under Link’s direction, A Strong Dollar, like his sire, flourished, completing an undefeated three-year-old season and walking away with the Three-Year-Old Stallions, Section A World Championship.

A Strong Dollar continued his winning ways as a four-year-old, capturing four first place ties in six appearances and never placing lower than second. His two red ribbons that year came from the Celebration where he was crowned Four-Year-Old Stallions, Section B Reserve World Champion and Four-Year-Old Reserve World Grand Champion. His biggest victories as a four-year-old came at the International and at the Southern Championships.



In 2005, A Strong Dollar roared into aged competition, barreling down the path toward the 2005 World Grand Championship. Along the way he has picked up blues at the Mississippi State Charity Horse Show, Gallatin, and Bethesda. He also claimed a very impressive second place tie at the Spring Fun Show. A Strong Dollar and trainer Link Webb are definitely primed for their aged debut on the big oval.

Discussing A Strong Dollar, Link relates, “A Strong Dollar is one of the most intelligent horses I’ve worked with. He’s a lot like his sire in that respect and in respect to his talent. A Strong Dollar also possesses many of the intangibles you look for in a show horse. He has an excellent temperament, he’s strong and has a lot of stamina, and he’s willing to work.”

Not only does A Strong Dollar have the show record of a champion, he also has the pedigree. In the eyes of many experts, his championship caliber pedigree coupled with his natural gait pegs A Strong Dollar as one of or industry’s most promising young stallions. One such expert, Rising Star Ranch breeding manager David Williams, had this to say about A Strong Dollar, “I believe A Strong Dollar would be a great asset to our breed as a whole. We have bred the prevalent and successful Pride Of Midnight line to the point where our horses’ ‘family tree’ has no branches. The Pusher C.G. was the obvious choice for an outcross in the past and was highly successful, but his sons have as yet to produce as their sire.

“As an outcross for the heavily Pride bred mares; I believe A Strong Dollar brings our horses back to ‘center’. Today I see many heavily Pride bred offspring which are getting finer and do have a great aesthetic appearance, but the down side to fine bone structure is a lack of durability. This stallion has good bone mass, wide and durable hooves and, as with any outcross, should have tremendous fertility. His natural way of going emphasizes his strong back end which we are lacking in many of the top breeding horses today.

“His pedigree is also a study of show horses. His sire, Generator’s Silver Dollar, has, in a short time, become one of the most successful sires in our breed’s history. But the majority of us know much about him. Where A Strong Dollar’s strength lies is along his mare line. His dam, Mo Precious, is sired by 1989 World Grand Champion Motown Magic who, as of late, has become well known as a top broodmare producer. A Strong Dollar’s second dam is Threat’s Jake Shake owned by world-renowned breeders Harlinsdale Farm. Threat’s Jake Shake, sired by 1965 World Grand Champion Triple Threat and out of Jake’s Go Girl, is also the full sister to former 15.2 & Under World Grand Champion Threat’s Cargo shown by John Young. Also notable is that Jake’s Go Girl was sired by Country Jake’s Go Boy who many remember was shown as Go Boy’s Country Jake to many successful Celebration appearances.

“As we look to the future, I personally believe A Strong Dollar will be ‘the Natural’ choice for most breeders. His offspring will be noted for their great over stride, bone structure, and ease of training and durability. They will be the type of colt that will inspire the saying ‘Shoe and Show’.”
