The Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup Contestants Come Full Circle

The Top 10 Horse Bowl Group.
Louisville, KY (November 4th, 2007) - Over 315 4-Hers from 26 different states across the nation gathered on the weekend of November 2-4th to compete in the largest ever Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup, part of the North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) held annually in Louisville, KY. Youth representing states as far as Washington and as close as Illinois and Ohio made their way to test their skills in this national event.
With such a diverse horse industry, the state of Kentucky itself is its own attraction to many horse-loving youth who travel to compete this November in Louisville. But the Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup has a natural attraction of its own, as many youth and adults return for competition, as a coach, or as a member of the Management Committee. Meagan McKee from New Jersey presented the 4-H Response at the Awards Banquet in 2007, and was chosen for this honor because this was Ms. McKee's third time to the Roundup. She has successfully competed in a different event each time, and says that the Eastern Nationals experience "exemplifies everything that 4-H is". Jennifer Elwell, the Management Committee Chair, knows first hand what the youth gain from their Eastern Nationals experience. Mrs. Elwell competed as a youth in the Communications events in 1991, served as judge in 1997, and in 1999 became a member of the Management Committee. She considers it to be "an honor to work with this contest", and her personal experience and attachment to the Roundup makes her invaluable to all who participate as well. Maybe one day in the future Meagan's experience will come full circle as well.
